Choosing the right dog breed

Pip and Steve are planning to buy a puppy – but face a bewildering choice of 210 pedigree breeds when deciding what breed of dog to get.
So Bill Lambert from The Kennel Club helps them narrow down their options  with a mini-dog show in their garden – with dogs representing all seven dog breed groups.

•    Champion Afghan Hound Desi represents Hound Breeds
•    Newfoundland Breeze is the ambassador for Working Dogs
•    Taylor the Manchester Terrier is a handsome example of Terrier Dogs
•    Pebble the Polish Lowland Sheepdog rounds up the Pastoral Group that contains herding dogs
•    A Bracco Italiano called Rachel puts in an appearance for the Gun Dogs.
•    Mischievous Pug, Simon, makes a big contribution on behalf of tiny Toy Dog Breeds
•    And Layla the Chow Chow makes a good impression for Utility Dog Breeds.

Throughout the dog show, Bill explains the common characteristics and personalities of the different types of dog  to help Pip and Steve narrow down their choice.
